Lions launch BLK ANZAC Guernsey

The Brisbane Lions will honour the ANZACs by wearing a one-off, BLK designed, event guernsey for their Round 6 ANZAC Day clash against St Kilda in Wellington on Friday.

The guernsey, unveiled today, will be based on the Club’s regular away design, but will have a Lions-centric camouflage look and feature for the first time ever in Club history the official Australian Army Rising Sun and 7th Brigade logos on its front.

The Southern Cross will also appear in gold beneath the lion’s back paw, while “Lest We Forget” is emblazoned on the back.

The guernsey has been designed to not only pay tribute to our fallen armed personnel, family and friends, but also celebrate the Club’s long-standing partnership with the Australian Armed Forces, particularly the 7th Brigade stationed at Enoggera Army Base in Brisbane.

All player issued and signed match guernseys will be auctioned off online at the Lions Shop, with ALL proceeds being donated to the 7th Brigade’s charity of choice – the ‘Young Diggers’.

Lions’ Captain, Jed Adcock, said it would be a privilege to run out in the guernsey on Thursday:

“It will be an honour to pull on the guernsey and pay tribute to so many young men and women who risked their lives for their country.

“It is a privilege to be able to play on ANZAC Day and hopefully we can channel the courage of the ANZACs and do the 7th Brigade proud on Friday.”

As the guernsey was unveiled, the Club also announced that BLK has extended their partnership with the Club for a further four years.

The Lions and BLK will continue a successful partnership that has, and will continue to see both parties, striving to be at the forefront of design innovation.

“The BLK brand has during the past six months enjoyed a period of significant international expansion and key to that strategy has been an emphasis on not only maintaining, but developing relationships with our current clubs, teams and professional team partners here in Australia,”  said BLK, Chief Executive Officer Tyron Brant.

“That focus makes today’s announcement of a further four year extension with the Brisbane Lions even more pleasing and paves the way for our teams to work on and deliver projects and innovation which we are confident will be very well received by the Lions members and supporters.

“The ANZAC Guernsey being revealed for the first time today is evidence of what can be achieved when we have cooperation and a willingness to deliver cutting edge, high performance on field and supporter apparel.”

The player issued and signed match guernseys will be available ONLY for auction from the first bounce at 5:45pm (AEST) on Friday 25 April and will run for seven days until 7:45pm (AEST) on Friday 2 May, with ALL proceeds being donated to the 7th Brigade’s charity of choice – the ‘Young Diggers’.
